A Message from NACVSO President - May 2026

Posted By: Andrew Tangen Industry,

Greetings NACVSO Members and Partners,

The countdown to Reno has begun, and I’m excited about what is shaping up to be a fantastic week!

GVSOs from across the country will soon gather in Reno, Nevada at the Peppermill Reno Resort for the 2026 NACVSO Annual Conference. This event is our biggest opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, strengthen partnerships, sharpen our expertise, and continue elevating the GVSO profession together.

We are honored to welcome VA Deputy Secretary Dr. Paul R. Lawrence as this year’s keynote speaker. Dr. Lawrence brings extensive experience in veterans’ policy and benefits delivery, and understands the importance of ensuring veterans receive timely, effective, and accountable service across the system.

We are also proud to welcome our honored guest speaker, Jeff Struecker. A member of the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame and veteran of 17 combat deployments, Jeff’s experience and role during the Battle of Mogadishu portrayed in Black Hawk Down have inspired audiences across the country. His perspective will surely leave a lasting impression.

This conference would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and partners. I want to extend special thanks to our premier sponsor, Heroes with Hearing Loss, for their continued support of NACVSO and the veteran community. We are equally grateful to all our sponsors and exhibitors who help make this event possible.

Most importantly, thank you to our members. Every year, this conference reminds us that power is found in the people doing the work every day across America. I look forward to seeing each of you in Reno as we continue pushing this profession forward until we can definitively say that no veteran’s ZIP code will determine the quality of advocacy they receive.

Safe travels, and we will see you soon.

Very Respectfully,

Andrew Tangen

President, NACVSO
