Mike Reeve

Michael A. Reeve has served as the Director of Veterans Affairs for Shiawassee County since March 2018. He is also a Veterans Service Officer (VSO) and holds accreditations from several organizations, including the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO), the American Legion (AL), the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Jewish War Veterans of the USA, and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA).

Reeve dedicated 27 years to military service, retiring as an Army Major after holding various active leadership, operational, staff and command positions. Prior to becoming an officer, he spent 10 years as an enlisted soldier, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was subsequently selected for Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery in April 1997. His military service included six deployments across 22 countries, including assignments to two Counter Narcotics Terrorism Teams within the Special Operations community. He is a veteran of the Cold War, the Gulf War, and the Iraq War.

“Utilizing my professional and military service experience to provide high-quality support to the veterans and their families in Shiawassee County has been, and continues to be, an honor and privilege. We have an amazing team of VSOs and resources throughout Michigan to assist our aging veteran population," Reeve stated.

In addition to his education, work experience, and military background, Reeve comes from a family of veterans. His father, Ed Reeve, served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps, his half-brother, John, was a Navy Corpsman, and his grandfather, Thomas, retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force.

When Mike isn't assisting veterans, he enjoys the many outdoor activities that Michigan has to offer, often spending time with his wife, children, and ten grandchildren.
