Michael Haerr

I proudly served my country and state for 32 years in the United States Army, Army Reserve and National Guard officer. I retired in 2015 and continued to serve the Illinois Department of Military Affairs as the Deputy, and then Director, of the Illinois National Guard Lincolns ChalleNGe Academy for At Risk Youth. In 2022, I accepted the opportunity to serve as the Superintendent and Veteran Service Officer for the Livingston County Veterans Assistance Commission, and now serve my neighbors coordinating and providing transportation to VA health care appointments throughout North-Central Illinois, assisting with claims and appeals, and administering emergency assistance for housing/utilities/groceries. Our Commission serves over 2000 veterans in Livingston County and provides area support to veterans in neighboring counties for claims and applications for state benefits.
